When I was asked recently to shoot a family in the highveld Bush it was a no brainer… I’ve always loved the bush and being a coastal boy most of my life when I was asked it was an emphatic yes! And so, the call went out to my trusty team and our bags were packed and off we went to go capture the Van Staden family in their beautiful backyard amongst the wild animals.
The one thing I have learnt about the high veld is that it’s a very temperamental place in terms of terrain and weather…you could have sunshine one moment then a raging thunderstorm the next. It all set the scene and the mood just perfectly, and as clockwork would have it the thunderstorms rolled in after some serious African heat giving us the beautiful dark moody tones to work with against the bushveld savannah. We were very honoured to have shot amongst the animals ( at a safe distance that is ) roaming the plains which produced some stunning images. A big high five to the wonderful and knowledgeable game rangers at Glen Afric Game lodge for their help with the animals and knowledge of the bush.
Can’t wait for our next bush adventure…
